What is the 10/40 Window of the world

The 10/40 Window of the world is a phrase within Christian ministry which refers to a rectangular area of the world which occupies Northern Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. This area gets its name because it lies between the latitude angles of 10 degrees North and 40 degrees North. 

The 10/40 Window of the world is home to an estimated population of nearly 5.5 billion people (as of 2023). Since the world’s current population (2023) is just over 8 billion people, that means over 68% of the world's population lives in this narrow region of the world.

This region is widely considered home to some of the poorest people in the world. Poverty and low standards of living are widespread.

Sadly, of the 54 nations which occupy the 10/40 Window of the world, Christianity is either formally oppressed or unofficially rejected by the majority of the governments ruling these nations. 

In addition to the limited or restricted access to places of Christian worship or even Christian learning resources, the Christians who live in this region of the world are regularly exposed to both political and social attacks just because of their belief and worship of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

In many of the countries throughout the 10/40 Window, open persecution of Christians is widespread and sanctioned. It is easy to see why Christians throughout this region are considered the most persecuted Christian population in the world today.

Of the nearly 5.5 billion people living within the 10/40 Window, over 3.3 billion of them are considered an unreached group of people. That means 60% of the people liming in the 10/40 Window either have never heard or have a very limited understanding of the gospel message.

Because of the limited Christian resources and high level of persecution faced by Christians living in this area of the world, we at Matthew24messenger are drawn to serve in the 10/40 Window and to the Christians who live there.
